Does carrying yarn and a crochet hook in my purse make me an old lady?

I posed this question to a group of teenage girls at a high school I was visiting in Winnipeg yesterday.  They assured me the answer is no, but I'm not sure I believe them.  I feel rather grannyish carrying it around, but I can't say that disagrees with me.  Being old can be fun!

It was only two days ago now that I was visiting my friend Trina, and she was busily crocheting as we talked.  I joked that I should be making something too, and immediately she left the room and retrieved for me the tools I needed to crochet my very own scarf!  I'm afraid that I was quite a poor student, but now that I have the general idea (still not sure if I'm doing those stitches right) I must confess myself hooked! (lol @ crocheting puns) It's not a very exciting hobby maybe, but it will certainly pass the time on the bus as we cross western Canada on the Christian College & University Fairs.  Come one, come all!  We kick off in Winnipeg tomorrow, and go all the way to Burnaby.

Seeing as I don't have any exciting crocheting pictures (sorry to disappoint) I thought I would post some pics from a photo scavenger hunt we did last year.  What fun!

Back from Great White North

Well I'm back from a 10-day whirlwind known as the Great White North Supertour.  We hit 8 cities all over Western Canada, recruiting our little hearts out whilst enjoying the musical stylings of incredible Canadian artists such as The Silent of New Brunswick, NIFTY of Toronto, (the juno award winning) Amanda Falk of Winnipeg, and Friday's Cry of Vancouver Island.  Headling was Portland, Oregon's Kutless, who did put on an excellent show, but I must say The Silent were by far my favourite.

As for the far more charming, witty, and fascinating participants in this adventure, i.e. the recruiters, we hail from all over the fair provinces we were gracing.  Three schools covered the whole tour:  King's (of course), Summit, and Prairie.  We travelled together in a rented van (along with some tag-alongs), and for the most part we had a total BLAST!    From playing games like "Hey Cows" and "Wheat or Barley?" to simply enjoying the ever-amusing antics of Summit's Dan Donkers we whiled away many a monotonous hour of driving across the flat prairie terrain.

And, just in case you were dying to come see us at the event and couldn't make it, the other schools that joined us were: Columbia, Vanguard, AUC-NUC, Rocky, Rosebud, PRBI, CMU, Providence, and SBC.  Yes it's a lot of acronyms, but that is what post-secondary education is all about, wouldn't you say?
